Iris Wenderholm

Iris Wenderholm (* 1977 ) is a German art historian and professor for early modern European art history at the University of Hamburg .

Life

After studying art history, French philology and economics at the Universities of Hamburg and Neuchâtel NE as well as the Free University of Berlin, she worked as assistant to the board of directors at the Kulturstiftung der Länder in Berlin from 2002 to 2004; There she received her doctorate in 2004 with the work "Image and Touch Sculpture and Painting on the Altar of the Italian Early Renaissance". From October 2009 she worked as a junior professor at the Art History Department of the University of Hamburg. In February 2014, she was offered the temporary professorship in European Art History of the Early Modern Era and since May 1, 2015, Wenderholm has been a full professor at this chair. In July 2015, she turned down an offer from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf for a W3 professorship for art history.
