Irmgard von Witzleben

Irmgard Marie Elisabeth von Witzleben (born July 17, 1896 in Arnstadt , † 1944 in Ravensbrück ) was a German artist.

She came from the Thuringian noble family von Witzleben and was the third child of Major General Friedrich Karl von Witzleben . As a student of Emil Orlik, she painted, among other things, the Prussian Crown Prince Wilhelm . As a resistance fighter against National Socialism , she corresponded with the Queen of Great Britain . When this effort became known, she was arrested and executed in the Ravensbrück concentration camp in 1944 .

Von-Witzleben-Strasse in Dormagen is reminiscent of Irmgard von Witzleben . The street sign has an explanatory addition.
