Irv Smith Jr. (* 9. August 1998 in New Orleans , Louisiana ) is an American American football poker players on the position of tight ends . He played college football for Alabama Crimson Tide and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2019 NFL Draft in the second round .

Early years

Irv Smith Jr. and his family moved to Arizona shortly after he was born , where he spent the first 14 years of his life. At the age of 14 he moved back to Louisiana, where he attended Brother Martin High School. In his senior year, he had 31 passes for 558 yards and four touchdowns . Originally, Smith wanted to play college football for Texas A&M University , but he went to the University of Alabama .

College career

In his 2016 freshman year, Smith had no pass catches. In 2017, he caught 14 passes for 128 yards and three touchdowns. He played in 14 games. In the 2018 season he played as a starter. In January 2019, he announced that he would be enrolling in the 2019 NFL Draft . There he was selected in the 2nd round in 50th place by the Minnesota Vikings .
