Isaak Berkowitsch
Isaak Jakowlewitsch Berkowitsch ( Russian Исаак Яковлевич Беркович ; Ukrainian Ісаак Якович Беркович ; * December 28, 1902 in Kiev ; † January 5, 1972 ibid) was a Soviet composer of Jewish origin.
Life
Berkowitsch graduated from the Conservatory in Kiev in 1925, where he learned from among others with Borys Lyatoschynskyj . He was appointed junior professor in 1952 and professor in 1969 and taught at the Kiev Conservatory . He mainly created works for piano. His variations on a theme by Paganini are very popular . The sheet music can be found in the play book Die Russische Klavierschule Spielband , Sikorski No.2379 ( ISBN 978-3-920880-70-9 ).
