Isabella De Monte (born June 23, 1971 in Udine ) is an Italian politician of the Partito Democratico . She was a senator from 2013 to 2014, then a member of the European Parliament until 2019 .

Life

De Monte completed a law degree and then worked as a lawyer in Udine. She began her work in local politics in 1999, was elected to the municipal council of Pontebba (Province of Udine) for a list of citizens , and in 2009 she became mayor of the small municipality. She resigned from mayor's office in May 2014, but was re-elected to the local council.

For the Partito Democratico, De Monte was elected to the Italian Senate in 2013 as the representative of the Friuli Venezia Giulia region . She was a member of the Committee on Constitutional Affairs. In the 2014 European elections , she won a seat in the constituency of Northeast Italy in the European Parliament . There she was a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism and a delegate in the Joint Parliamentary Committee of the EU-Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (North Macedonia).
