Isabella Elder statue
The Isabella Elder Statue is a memorial in the Scottish city of Glasgow . In 1970 the building was included in the Scottish monument lists in the highest monument category A.
history
Isabella Elder, widow of the marine engineer John Elder , became a patron after his death. She founded Elder Park and in 1903 the Elder Park Library as a public library. She died in 1905. The Isabella Elder statue was inaugurated in her memory in 1906. The statue was created by the Scottish artist Archibald McFarlane Shannan . The Singer bronze foundry performed the casting .

The statue is located within a wrought iron enclosure in the southern part of Elder Park in the Govan district of Glasgow . The bronze statue rests on a granite pedestal . It shows Isabella Elder sitting on an ornamented chair.
