description

The library is located in the Govan district of Glasgow on the eastern edge of the surrounding Elder Park . The implementation of John James Burnet's design in Edwardian Neo-Baroque cost an estimated £ 27,000. In the first half of the 1920s, the back of the building was redesigned.

A portico with segmental arches protrudes from the front of the one-story building, which is exposed to the southeast . It is designed with paired Tuscan columns. A sculptured cartouche with Govan's coat of arms is embedded in the mounted balustrade . A small dome rises behind the balustrade. The building edges are designed with rusticated pilasters . The two gables on the back of the building show ox eyes in the tympanum . A stone balustrade runs around below the slate roof.
