Isabelle Falque-Pierrotin (* 21st January 1960 in Le Creusot , Saône-et-Loire , France as Isabelle Boulin ) is a member of the French Council of State and president of the French data protection authority.

Life

Falque-Pierrotin received various diplomas from the École des hautes études commerciales de Paris (HEC), the École nationale d'administration (ENA) and the Institut Multi-médias . In 1986 she was appointed to the Conseil d'État , which is also the highest administrative court in the country. From 1991 to 1993 she was a director on the board of the French computer manufacturer Bull .

From 1993 to 1995, Falque-Pierrotin was Deputy Director in the Ministry of Culture and Communication under Minister Jacques Toubon . From 1996 to 1997 she worked at the OECD , the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development , as an expert on the development of international cooperation via the Internet . She has been rapporteur in the Reports and Studies Department of the State Council since 1998 and was responsible for coordinating the report on the Internet and Digital Networks published by the State Council in the same year.

In 2000, Falque-Pierrotin was commissioned to set up the forum for rights on the Internet , the Forum des droits sur l'internet , initiated by Lionel Jospin , and was appointed general representative and, from May 2001 to 2010, the president of the advisory board of the forum.

Since May 2007, Falque-Pierrotin has been a member of the Council for Intellectual Property in Literature and Art , the Conseil supérieur de la propriété littéraire et artistique . In February 2009 she became Vice-President of the French data protection authority, the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL), of which she became President in 2011. In February 2014 she was re-elected for a further five years. In the same year she was elected President of the Article 29 Data Protection Working Party of the European Union .

Falque-Pierrotin is married to the general manager of a French electrical wholesale company, Thierry Falque-Pierrotin.

Remarks

  • In 2007, Falque-Pierrotin was nominated for the Big Brother Awards because she resolutely refused to allow the use of electronic voting procedures and, especially in 2007, voting machines .
  • Also in 2007, she had the statutes of the Forum of Rights on the Internet changed so that the accumulation of offices as President and General Representative of the Forum became permissible.
