Sambor Prei Kuk ( Khmer ប្រាសាទសំបូរព្រៃគុក Prasat Sambor Prei Kuk ) is the modern name of a Hindu temple complex in what is now Cambodia , in what is now Kampong Thom Province . They are the remains of the ancient city of Isanapura ( Khmer ឦសាន បុ រៈ Eisan bora ).
Isanavarman I made Isanapura the capital of his Kingdom of Chenla in 616 , which flourished here in the seventh and eighth centuries AD. Isanapura probably existed before the sixth century. The ruins consist of over 150 temples and towers and cover an area of over 400 hectares . There are three main complexes that were surrounded by walls. The temples are richly decorated with reliefs.
