Isar marathon
The Isar Marathon is the annual canoe race for the open Bavarian championship on the Isar in easy white water over 22.5 kilometers between Bad Tölz and Wolfratshausen.

Jesko Klammer launched the Isar Marathon as an open race. The organizer is the canoe club TG-Munich [2]. The race has taken place every year since 2003 during the "four-in-one" weekend during the Munich Oktoberfest at the end of September. The marathon is the highlight of four events within one weekend: 1. Germany Cup Sprint; 2nd Classic race (both on the obstacle-ridden Floßgasse of the Isar in Munich / Thalkirchen); 3. Visit to the Oktoberfest; 4th Isar Marathon.
route
The 22.5 kilometers from Bad Tölz to Wolfratshausen are characterized by unspoilt natural beauty. The Isar meanders through gravel banks and floodplain forests ( Pupplinger Au nature reserve ). Light gushes, tree fences and debris give it the character of light whitewater (WW I) over the entire route .
competition
The high-class field of participants of mostly 40-80 participants comes from all canoe clubs in Germany that practice white water racing. On the other hand, the Isar Marathon has not yet established itself internationally like the great models Ardèche , Etsch, Moldau or Sella marathons, in which several hundred boats take part every year. The Isarmarathon is the host event of the Bavarian Canoe Marathon Championship. Starting classes are K1, K2, C1, C2 (different age groups).
