Ise (poet)
Ise ( Japanese 伊 勢 ; * around 875 in the province of Ise ; † 938 ), also Ise no Go ( 伊 勢 の 御 ) and Ise no Miyasudokoro ( 伊 勢 の 御 息 所 , German about "Lady Ise") was a Japanese poet and concubine . She is one of the 36 immortals in poetry .
Ises father Fujiwara no Tsugukage ( 藤原 継 蔭 ) was the provincial governor of Ise ( 伊 勢 守 , Ise no kami ) and her grandfather Ōnakatomi no Yoshinobu (921-991) was an important poet of the Waka tradition. Since her name is unknown, her father's post was used as an emergency name . She came to the imperial court as a servant of the emperor's wife Fujiwara no Onshi (also Yoshiko; 藤原 温 子 ; 872–907). There Ise married the imperial prince Atsuyoshi ( 敦 慶 親王 , Atsuyoshi-shinnō ), to whom she bore three children, u. a. the Waka poetess Nakatsukasa . She also became the concubine of the Japanese emperor Uda-tennō (867-931), to whom she gave birth to a son.
