Iselin Trough

The Filchner Trough is a deep sea channel in the Ross Sea in Antarctica .

The channel has been named since 1997 at the suggestion of Steven Cande from the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory . The naming was based on the neighboring Iselin Bank . It is named after Columbus Oswald Iselin II, oceanographer of the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution .
