Ishak-beg Tomašević

Ishak-beg Tomašević (* 1456 as Zilmunt Kotromanić ; † after 1490 ) was a Bosnian prince and Ottoman military leader .

biography

Ishak-beg Tomašević was the son of the Bosnian king Stjepan Tomaš and his second wife Katarina Kosača-Kotromanić , the daughter of the Duke of Herzegovina Stjepan Vukčić Kosača . During the Ottoman occupation of Bosnia in 1463, he was captured along with his sister Katarina. Zilmunt (German for Sigismund) was brought up in Constantinople, where he converted to Islam and changed his name to Ishak. In 1485 he became Sandžak-beg of the Karası Province in Anatolia . Ishak-beg was involved in a number of battles, most likely the battle in the Krbava field . In Turkish historiography he is referred to as Ishak Bey Kraloğlu or Ishak-beg Kıral-oğlu (= son of the king).
