Ishpatina Ridge is the highest point in the Canadian province of Ontario .
It is located around 90 km north of the city of Sudbury , near Temagami in the Timiskaming District . With an estimated height of 693 m (some sources also mention 690 m ), the rather flat hill hardly protrudes from the also elevated surroundings in the middle of the Canadian Shield .
The hill is difficult to access: It is located in the middle of Lady Evelyn-Smoothwater Provincial Park , more than 30 km from Highway 560 . The name "Ishpatina" comes from the word "ishpadinaa" in the language of the Anishinabe Indians, which means "a high hill / range of hills".
