The Iskandar Johor Open is a golf tournament that is held in Malaysia and is part of the Asian Tour . It was first played in 2007 at the Royal Johor Country Club in Johor Bahru .
In 2008, the prize was $ 500,000. In 2009, the prize money at the Johor Open was doubled to $ 1,000,000. In 2010, a total of 1.25 million US dollars were paid out, making the event the most expensive event that was only held on the Asian Tour, together with the Hero Honda Indian Open , and the eighth most expensive event on the Asian Tour overall. In 2011 the Johor Open was added to the European Tour .
The competition is sponsored by the Johor State and the Iskandar Region Development Authority (IRDA).
