Isla San Diego is a small Mexican island in the south of the Gulf of California . Administratively, it belongs to the municipality ( municipio ) Comondú of the State of Baja California Sur and is, apart from the very small island of La Habana , the only island this community in the Gulf of California is.

The arid and uninhabited island is located about 22 km east of Baja California , 9.5 km north of San José Island and 6 km south-southeast of Santa Cruz Island . Isla San Diego is 1.5 km long, up to 500 m wide and covers an area of 56.3 hectares (0.563 km²). From the southwest end of the island there is a reef that is only a few meters below the surface and almost two kilometers long . There is a 9 m high lighthouse on San Diego.
