The Universitas Islam Indonesia ( Indonesian Islamic University ) is an Islamic University in Indonesia .

It was founded on July 8, 1945 as STI (Islamic University Sekolah Tinggi Islam) in Jakarta , 40 days before the independence of the Republic of Indonesia . It was the first university in Indonesia that was not owned by the Dutch . In 1946 she moved to Yogyakarta . On December 14, 1947, the Islamic University (STI) became a university, the Universitas Islam Indonesia (UII). Today the UII is a private university.

The university is a member of the Association of Universities in the Islamic World .
