The Ismailia Stadium ( Arabic ملعب الاسماعيلية) is a football stadium in the Egyptian city of Ismailia . It is located about 13 kilometers from the city center and was opened in 1934. Renovations took place in 2005 and 2009. The stadium has a capacity of 18,525 seats and is mainly used for football matches. The Ismaily SC club plays its home games here.
In 1991 the preliminary round matches of the 5th African Games took place in the stadium , in 2006 the stadium was one of the venues for the Africa Cup , and in 2009 it is used as the venue for the U-20 World Cup . In 2019, the Africa Cup of Nations will again take place in Ismailia .
