Ismet Beqiri
Ismet Beqiri (born July 6, 1964 in Terrnave near Podujeva , SFR Yugoslavia , today Kosovo ) is an Albanian politician from Kosovo. He studied law at the University of Pristina . In 1998 he was first elected to the parliament of Kosovo.
Between 2000 and 2002 he was a member of the municipal assembly in the capital Pristina . There he held the post of mayor from November 27, 2002 to January 3, 2008. In the parliamentary elections on November 17, 2007, he was elected to the parliament of Kosovo. He took up his mandate on January 3, 2008. He chairs the parliamentary committee on human rights, gender equality, missing people and petitions.
Beqiri is a party member of Lidhja Demokratike e Kosovës (LDK).
