Isogai Dynamic Therapy

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Isogai Dynamic Therapy is a body therapy from Japan that was developed by Kimiyoshi Isogai (1917–1989) in the mid-20th century . Therapy is based on the assumption that a pelvic incline brings the human organism out of balance. If this condition persists, the body reacts with illness and is more prone to injury. On the basis of years of research, Isogai found that pelvic obliquity in most cases is caused by a misalignment of the hip joints ( subluxation ).

founder

Kimiyoshi Isogai was born in 1917 as the second son of Isogai Ryonosuke in Nanzenji, Kyoto . After graduating from Kyoto Pharmaceutical School, he worked for the Ministry of Welfare and Osaka Medical College. In 1943 he took over the uncle's orthopedic clinic and began studying spinal claudication treatment, including the aftereffects of poliomyelitis and hemiplegia. In 1946 he completed the national judo therapist examination. From 1951 he expanded his scope of studies to include the whole body and published his results with numerous x-rays ("the effects of hip dislocation on the systemic condition"). In the following years, Isogai published further research on the effects of hip subluxations on health and the therapy he developed. Isogai therapy established itself in Japanese society through numerous publications. These were:

  • Article on Isogai Therapy for Poliomyelitis in the Kyoto Shimbun newspaper
  • the Kyoto Broadcasting System aired a report presenting the outcome of its therapy for the aftereffects of poliomyelitis entitled "The Advancement of Oriental Medicine"
  • the Japan Comprehensive Medical Society presented a paper on "Isogai Therapy".
  • "Isogai Therapy: Ultimate Correction of Imbalanced Body-100 Case Studies" (Jitsugyo no Nihon Sha, Ltd.).

In 1962 he opened the Isogai Clinic in Tokyo.

He went on to publish other works and appear on various television shows including: "Afternoon Show" (NET Broadcasting System), Tokyo 12 Channel aired a program called "Saturday Journal" from the Isogai Therapy Clinic. In addition, Isogai Therapy has been featured in various books, including Life Series 1000-Katei-Gaho (Shufunotomo Co.) and Science of Fasting Therapy (written by KOUDA Mitsuo; Shunju-sha). In 1978, "The Way to Overcoming Incurable Diseases - 50 Cases of Patients Regaining True Health" (Hato-no-mori Shobo) was published. In 1981 the Chinese translation of the entire book "Isogai Therapy" was completed by doctors and university professors from Tianjiin, China, and presented there as the Isogai theory and its treatment. In 1982, the Japanese and English versions "Isogai Dynamic Therapy" were published (distributed by Maruzen and published by Lattice). Kimiyoshi Isogai died in Tokyo in 1989.

basis

The entire musculoskeletal system from the feet to the legs, hips, spine, shoulders, neck, head and jaws represent a unit. The misalignment of a single segment therefore always affects the entire organism . Dr. As part of his medical work, Isogai discovered that the majority of his patients were inclined to the pelvis. His investigations showed that a hip subluxation leads to a leg length difference that is considerably greater than the displacement occurring in the joint. As a rule, both hip joints are subluxated to different degrees, so that both legs are of unequal length, which ultimately leads to a pelvic tilt. This inclination causes a change in the statics of the skeleton , since the spine is forced into compensatory bends in combination with a torsional movement in order to keep the eyes in a horizontal line. Effects of a sloping pelvis on the organism from the perspective of Isogai therapy. Axis misalignments in the body lead to changed pressure conditions in all joints. The support lines ( Mikulicz line in the lower extremities) are not now more physiologically in the center of the joint surfaces but curves depending on misalignment more lateral (z. B. X-legs ) or medial (z. B. O-legs ) . The strain on the body increases as a result of the tilting pressure and can lead to a wide variety of symptoms.

Possible effects on joints: meniscus damage, torn ligaments, knee osteoarthritis , hip osteoarthritis , osteophytes, lumbar spine syndrome , cervical syndrome, shoulder pain, increased risk of injury, etc.

Effects on the spine:
The inclination of the pelvis also influences the position of the individual vertebral bodies in relation to one another. The spine compensates for the misalignment of its foundation by bending it sideways in order to keep the head in a vertical position. This changes the pressure conditions on the intervertebral discs between the vertebral bodies. As a result, they lose their natural elasticity and become deformed. -> Disc degeneration can lead to other serious diseases.

According to Isogai, pelvic inclination also has an impact on organ and nerve function. The function of the organs depends on how they are controlled by the autonomic nervous system. The nerves run through the spinal canal and exit through the intervertebral holes on the side of the spine. A scoliosis causes a narrowing of the intervertebral foramina, whereby the sub characterized exiting nerve, or may be overstimulated. This malfunction can impair organ function and lead to diseases.

method

diagnosis

In Isogai Therapy, it is of crucial importance which side of the pelvis is higher. At the beginning of every treatment, the leg lengths are determined by an Isogai therapist. Possible misalignments are diagnosed by scanning different points on the body by comparing the sides and examining the angle of movement of the hip joints.

To . Isogai can be divided into seven basic types of hip malpositions:

  • L-type = left leg longer
  • R-type = right leg longer
  • LO type = left leg longer + bow legs
  • RO type = right leg longer + bow legs
  • LX type = left leg longer + knock knees
  • RX type = right leg longer + knock knees
  • S-type = mixed form

However, in his books he describes over 169 different malpositions of the hip joint.

therapy

In order to stabilize the central body line again, manual techniques are used to align the longer leg with the shorter one and not the other way around. Correcting the hip joints is part of the treatment. Furthermore, muscles are relaxed and compressed structures are stretched, always with the focus on strengthening the central line. To do this, the patient's legs are fixed in the corrected position using three straps. A specially shaped ceramic stone is then placed under his spine in a targeted manner in order to stretch it in the desired position and relax hardened structures.

Another essential point is the symmetrical muscle building. Uneven leg lengths result in unequal loads and therefore unequal muscle growth. The patient is instructed in special exercises that correspond to their respective deformities and compensate for the asymmetrical muscle structure.

Overview Isogai, used therapeutically:

  1. Diagnosis: position of the hip joints and pelvis, which leg is the supposedly longer one? Are there physical or organic complaints?
  2. Correction of the hip joints
  3. Corrective exercises for the muscles
  4. Stretching on the stone according to a strict schedule
  5. Corrective exercises
  6. Compilation of exercises for home.

Self-treatment

The active cooperation of the patient is of crucial importance for the course of therapy. Through his work, the therapist redefines the line that helps the body straighten up. This line is held by muscles and tissues. It is up to the patient to develop that. For this he is instructed in exercises that correspond to his incorrect posture and that he can carry out independently.

materials

The isogai stone and ligaments are used to fix the body in the corrective position and to stretch hardened structures.

Isogai Academy

Was founded in 2017 by Sandra Sämmer after she completed her training as an isogai therapist in Japan around 20 years ago and has been using this method in her practice ever since.

Aims and tasks of the Isogai Academy:

  • promotes, protects and spreads the Isogai method.
  • offers seminars for the training and further education of certified Isogai therapists and certified Isogai practitioners.
  • organizes courses for the Isogai self-treatment method.
  • maintains a public directory of certified isogai therapists and certified isogai practitioners
