features

butterfly

The wingspan of the moth is 32 to 36 millimeters. The basic color of the forewing upper sides varies in both sexes in different shades of gray. The wings are provided with a fine dark brown mottling. Usually reddish scales stand out and the veins sometimes show a reddish color. The dark gray transverse lines are often interrupted or reduced to small spots on the front edge , but can also be emphasized very clearly. A fine dark brown mottling stands out on the pale gray upper side of the hind wing. The almost unmarked white-gray hind wing undersides each show an indistinct center.

Caterpillar

Adult caterpillars are green in color with a black-green topline. The entire surface of the body is covered with very small black dots. A wide, white-yellow side stripe, which is lined with black and from which the black spiracles stand out, is striking . On the belly side there are sometimes large pink spots. The green head capsule is dotted with black.
