István Csoknyai (2010)

István Csoknyai [ ˈiʃtvaːn ˈtʃokɲɒ.i ] (born October 24, 1964 in Dunaújváros ) is a Hungarian handball player and handball coach .

He was under contract as a player at KC Veszprém . With this club he played in the EHF Champions League (1997/1998, 1998/1999, 1999/2000, 2001/2002, 2003/2004, 2004/2005) and in the European Cup Winners' Cup (2000/2001).

István Csoknyai has appeared in the Hungarian national team more than 170 times . He played in Hungary's national team at the 1992 Olympics .

Csoknyai was assistant coach at KC Veszprém from 2005 and became head coach of the Hungarian national team in September 2009, which he supervised until July 2010. In 2014 he gave up his post at Veszprém and took over the coaching position of Balatonfüredi KSE . In October 2018, Csoknyai took over the Hungarian national team again, which he coached until the end of the 2018/19 season.
