István Vincze (born September 16, 1944 in Soroksár ; † January 20, 2014 in Dresden ) was a Hungarian- German horn player .

Career

Vincze graduated from the Budapest Music Academy “Liszt Ferenc” and the Weimar Music Academy . From 1955 to 1968 he played in the St. Stephan Orchestra Budapest (I. István Király gimnázium szinfonikus zenekara). 1969–71 he got his first engagement as horn player with the Hungarian National Philharmonic. Vincze played as principal horn from 1971 to 1973 with the Jena Philharmonic, from 1973 to 1976 with the Weimarschen Staatskapelle and from 1976 to 2010 with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden .

Vincze was also active in the training of young talent for three decades. Since 1993 he has been honorary professor at the Carl Maria von Weber University of Music in Dresden.
