Isuzu Motors India Private Limited (IMI for short) is an automobile and commercial vehicle manufacturer and dealer in Chennai, India . It is a joint venture between Isuzu Motors Asia (49.6%), Isuzu (12.4%) and Mitsubishi Corporation (38%). In 2016, a slightly different investment structure was specified.

history

Look at the plant

IMI was founded in August 2012. It has been importing and selling the D-Max and Mu-X models since 2013 . At the same time, it is said to have used Hindustan Motors production facilities until 2016 .

The company's own production facility was opened in 2016. Despite a theoretical capacity of 50,000 units, only 2000 and 4200 vehicles were sold in 2016 and 2017. A total of 10,000 copies had been sold by 2018.

Isuzu also has a 15% stake in SML Isuzu Limited in India .

The models D-Max and Mu-7 are produced .
