Yasuhide Itō

Yasuhide Itō ( Japanese 伊藤 康 英 , Itō Yasuhide ; born December 7, 1960 in Hamamatsu , Shizuoka Prefecture ) is a Japanese composer , conductor and pianist .

biography

In 1979 he began his studies at Tōkyō Geijutsu Daigaku (English Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music ) and graduated there in 1986. He received high awards for his piano lectures ( Shizuoka Music Competition ) and for his compositional works ( Japan Music Competition ). As a composer he is known far beyond the borders of Japan, especially with his around 60 works for wind orchestra. His glory can be found in the programs of wind orchestras all over the world and his orchestral work Festal Scenes seems just as successful.

In 2001 his first opera, Mr. Cinderella , premiered. In addition to his compositional work, he is also very well known as a pianist and can refer to successful joint appearances with Trevor Wye , William Bennett , Steven Mead , Brian Bowman , Miura Toru and Sugawa Nobuya .

He is also the conductor of the Tsukuba University Band .

He is a lecturer at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music as well as Senzoku Music College , Sakuyo Music College and Tokyo Conservatoire Shobi .
