Itatiaiuçu
Itatiaiuçu , officially Portuguese Município de Itatiaiuçu , is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Minas Gerais with 11,037 inhabitants as of July 1, 2018. The population was 8,517 in the 2000 census and 9,928 in the 2010 census.
location
It borders on Mateus Leme , Igarapé , Brumadinho , Rio Manso , Itaguara , Carmo Cajuru and Itaúna . The place is located in the middle of the Cordilheira do Espinhaço , on the slopes of the Serra do Itatiaiuçu and has 267 square kilometers. The capital Belo Horizonte is 70 km to the northeast.
economy
The most important economic activity is the mining of iron. The iron ore mining company Ferrous Resources operates the Santanense mine at Itatiaiuçu. Fruit and vegetables and cattle and milk are also produced in the temperate climate.
