In terms of settlement history, Itzenbüttel is one of the Büttel localities. Itzenbüttel was first mentioned in documents in 1432, because a farmer's farm was robbed during a feud that year. In 1450 the place consisted of three full courtyards. At the end of the 15th century, four farms in Itzenbüttel were named, which belonged to the old monastery Buxtehude and the Ramelsloh monastery.
On July 1, 1972, the municipality of Itzenbüttel was dissolved as part of the regional reform in Lower Saxony . The majority, with almost 500 inhabitants at that time, came to Jesteburg. The town of Buchholz in the north heath received parts of the area with about 125 inhabitants at that time.
