Iván Cervantes Montero (born May 2, 1982 in Cambrils ) is a multiple Spanish enduro world champion .

Career

Iván Cervantes began his motorsport career in motocross . At the age of 13 he became Spanish champion in the 80 cm³ class. In 1996 he was third in this class. In 1998 he was runner-up in the class up to 250 cm³ and won the Trofeo Nacional . In 1999 he finally won the Spanish junior title. The following year he was sixth in the championship in the class up to 125 cc and in 2001 fifteenth in the open class.

In the following year he switched to enduro and became Spanish champion in the 500 cc class. In 2003 he switched to the KTM factory team . This year he defended the previous year's title and was also the overall winner of the championship. In the world championship he was second behind Juha Salminen . In 2004 he was third in the world championship in the E3 class (over 250 cm³ two-stroke / 500 cm³ four-stroke), he also won the Spanish championship in the 250 cm³ class and the overall title. He was able to defend this national title in the following year. In 2005 he was also the first Spaniard to become Enduro World Champion. He was able to repeat this victory in the E1 class (up to 125 cm³ two-stroke / 250 cm³ four-stroke) in 2006. The following year he moved to class E3 (over 250 cm³ two-stroke / 500 cm³ four-stroke) and finished the season as world champion. In 2008 he drove in class E1 and finished second. For the 2009 season, Cervantes moved back to the E3 class and became world champion.
