Cambrils is a town with 33,898 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019) a few kilometers west of Tarragona in the heart of the Costa Daurada in the autonomous region of Catalonia , Spain . Cambrils has a long tradition as a fishing village.

The city was founded by the Romans who called it Oleastrum ("City of Olive Oil"). For many epochs it served different cultures as a strategically located place.

The main industry is tourism . The harbor is mainly used as a sport boat harbor, but there is still a small fishing fleet that comes in at around 4 p.m. on weekdays. The sorting of the catch can be observed directly in the port.

The traditional local gastronomy is based on Mediterranean cuisine, rounded off by wines from the Priorat , Penedès , Tarragona , Montsant and Terra Alta growing areas .
