The WEB Windenergie AG is an Austrian power generation company based in Pfaffenschlag in Waidhofen an der Thaya . The company produces green electricity from wind, solar and water power. WEB operates 275 power plants in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, France, Italy, Canada and the USA, of which 244 are wind power plants, 28 are photovoltaic and three are hydropower plants

history

The first forerunner company "WEB-GmbH" was founded in 1994 by Erna, Franz and Andreas Dangl. Andreas Dangl was the first managing director of WEB. In July 1995 the first wind turbine with an output of 225 kilowatts was built in Michelbach with the participation of 96 private individuals . Between 1995 and 1997, various public participation companies were founded to set up wind farm projects.

In July 1999, WEB Windenergie AG was founded in its current legal form. The companies WaldwindGmbH & CoKEG, WEB-EU-Windfonds, Nordwind GmbH & Co KEG, stille Gesellschaft Hagenbrunn, Michelbacher Windkraft GmbH & Co KEG and Windlicht were brought into WEB between 1999 and 2001. In addition, when the company was founded, the share form of public participation went on sale. WEB Windenergie AG has also been issuing bonds since 2010. The subsidiary was founded in Germany in 1996, in the Czech Republic in 2002, in France in 2004, in Italy in 2008 and in Canada in 2011.

In 2017, the company produced more than 1 terawatt hour of electricity and, as of December 31, 2016, had a total capacity of 426 megawatts.

At the Austrian Climate Protection Prize 2015, the company was awarded the special prize for the company energy transition.

Corporate activities

WEB Windenergie AG operates wind farms. The field of activity includes the project planning and planning of wind farms. The range of services extends from the implementation of feasibility studies and wind measurements, the preparation of technical concepts and submission documents, to site coordination and the commissioning of the wind farms. Another field of activity is the operation of wind farms. All WEB wind power plants are operated from the control center in Pfaffenschlag.

As of June 2018, the WEB offers excursion groups a tour of the control center, the multi-purpose hall from 2016 and a machine house installed on the ground.

The WEB is a citizen participation company. It is owned by around 3,600 shareholders and is not listed on the stock exchange. The shares are traded on the private trading platform: www.traderoom.at.

Since October 1, 2013, the company has been offering the electricity it generates to its shareholders for purchase.

In 2014, ELLA AG was founded as a subsidiary of WEB, the company's goal is to set up an Austria-wide fast charging network for electric cars .
