Ivan Höger

Ivan "Ivo" Höger (born September 17, 1982 ) is a former Czech basketball player .

career

The 2.25 meter tall indoor player, who comes from a village in the south-east of the Czech Republic, played in the second team of the top Slovenian club Union Olimpija Ljubljana until 2002 , where he moved at the age of 17. In the 2002/03 season he then strengthened the Slovenian first division club KK Triglav Kranj and was committed during the summer break of 2003 by the Austrian Bundesliga club Superfund Kapfenberg . In the same year, the Czech moved within the Bundesliga to UKJ St. Pölten  , where he was under contract until spring 2006. In March 2006, Höger moved from St. Pölten to his home country and played for the first division club Sparta Prague until the end of the 2005/06 season .

During the summer break of 2006, the Danish first division club Svendborg Rabbits signed  the Czech after a commitment to the Bulgarian first division club CSKA Sofia had failed. Höger spent the most successful time of his professional career in Svendborg. In the 2006/07 season he achieved an average of 17.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per match and was named the best European player in the Danish league by the specialist portal eurobasket.com . Following the 2007/08 game year, in which he had recorded an average of 16.8 points and 8.6 rebounds for Svendborg per game, eurobasket.com named him the best center player of the season in the Danish league. In the 2009/10 season he was Danish champion with Svendborg.

In 2010 he left Denmark after four years and played in the 2010/11 season first for the Cypriot club AEL Limassol , then for Fukuoka Rizing in Japan. From 2011 to January 2013 Höger was in the service of the Georgian first division club Olimpi Tbilisi. In the spring of 2013 he had a brief stint with CS Farul Constanta in Romania's first division. In the 2013/14 season the Czech played for Siġġiewi in Malta and returned to the Svendborg Rabbits in Denmark in the 2014/15 season. Due to blood in his lungs, he had to sit out from November 2014 and was out for the rest of the 2014/15 season. This ended his career as a professional basketball player.
