Ivan Hotěk

Ivan Hotěk (born March 23, 1955 in Karlsbad , Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech diplomat.

Career

Hotěk graduated from Prague University of Economics in 1983 . He holds an engineering degree.

From 1983 to 1985 Hotěk was budget officer in the finance department of the Czechoslovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, then five years administrative manager of the Czechoslovak embassy in New Delhi ( India ). For a year he worked again in the Czechoslovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Senior Budget Officer before he became Second Secretary of the Czechoslovak Embassy in Seoul ( South Korea ) in 1991 . From 1993 to 1994 Hotěk was an advisor to the director of the finance department in the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1995 he became Charge d'Affaires at the Czech Embassy in Malaysia and in 2000 Czech Ambassador to South Korea.

From 2004 to 2006 Hotěk was Director General of the Logistics Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before becoming Czech Ambassador to Bangkok from 2007 to 2011 , with accreditations for Thailand , Cambodia , Myanmar and Laos . With the rank of ambassador, Hotěk became advisor to the Director General of the Department for Economic Cooperation and Regional Promotion in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on January 10, 2011. He held the office until July 31, 2012. This was followed by the post of deputy director until December 2013 and director in the Ministry of the Interior until February 2014. From May 1 to December 31, 2014, Hotěk was Director General of the Information Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, before becoming Deputy Junior Minister in the Budget, Logistics and Services Department in January 2015 and in the Information Technology Department in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in April 2015.

Since October 2015 Hotěk has been the Czech ambassador in Jakarta with accreditations for Indonesia , Brunei , East Timor and Singapore as well as for ASEAN .

In addition to Czech, Hotěk speaks English, Russian and German. He is married and has two children.
