Ivan Parík

Ivan Parík (born August 17, 1936 in Bratislava , † March 2, 2005 ibid) was a Slovak composer.

Life

From 1953 to 1958 Parík studied composition with Andrej Očenáš and conducting with Kornel Schimpl at the Conservatory of his native city and until 1962 at the University of Music in Bratislava with Alexander Moyzes and Ján Cikker . From 1959 to 1962 he was a dramaturge at Czechoslovak Television in Bratislava, after which he worked as a teacher of music theory and composition until 1997, and from 1994 to 1996 also as rector at the Academy of Musical Arts.

He composed two ballets , an orchestral prelude, a requiem for chamber orchestra, a stabat mater for tenor and orchestra, tower music for wind instruments, two reproduction systems and bells, an electronic collage and other electronic compositions as well as works for chamber music .
