Ivar Sagmo

Ivar Sagmo (* 1941 ) is a Norwegian literary scholar .

Life

Ivar Sagmo is professor emeritus for German literary studies at the Institute for Literature, Cultural Studies and European Languages ​​at the University of Oslo in Norway .

His main scientific research interests include works from the pre-classical period , from the classical period to the romantic period . The authors Johann Gottfried Herder , Christoph Martin Wieland , Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Georg Büchner are at the center of his literary research. In his scholarly work on Sophie von La Roche , he examined aspects of female writing .

Ivar Sagmo's preoccupation with German literature extends to literary modernism and also includes contemporary German-speaking authors . In various articles he examined the prose of Thomas Bernhard and Peter Schneider .

In addition to his work as a literary scholar , Ivar Sagmo also worked as a literary historian . He wrote overview reports on the history of German studies in Norway and the reception of German-language literature in Norway.
