Ivan Julijanowitsch Kulik
Iwan Julijanowitsch Kulik ( Russian Иван Юлианович Кулик / Ukrainian Іва́н Юліа́нович Кули́к / Iwan Julianowytsch Kulyk ; born January 26, 1897 in Schpola ; † October 10, 1937 ) was a Soviet literary critic and critic of the Soviet Union . He was involved in the publication of the newspaper Golos Sozial-Demokrata and belonged to the first Ukrainian Soviet government. From 1924 to 1926 he was the Soviet consul in Canada, in 1934 chairman of the Ukrainian Writers' Union . In 1937 Kulik and his wife Luciana Piontek of German descent were victims of the Stalin Purges .
