Ivan Petrovich Pnin

Ivan Petrovich Pnin ( Russian Иван Петрович Пнин , scientific transliteration Ivan Petrovič Pnin ; * 1773 in Moscow ; † September 17/29, 1805 in Saint Petersburg ) was a Russian enlightener , poet and publicist .

Pnin was an illegitimate son of Prince Nikolai Repnin . After graduating from the Artillery School of the Engineer Corps in 1789, he participated in the Russo-Swedish War 1788–90 and served in the military until 1797.

Pnin was co-editor of the St. Petersburg Journal (1798) and president of the Free Society for Lovers of Literature, Art and Science . In 1801 he came into contact with Alexander Radishchev , with Alexander Fedosejewitsch Bestuschew, the father of Alexander Alexandrowitsch Bestuschew he was close friends.
