Ibid) was a Russian lyric poet, whose work especially because of his Descriptions of nature gained notoriety. But other motifs, such as the depiction of the sufferings and pains of life, characterize the work of Ivan Nikitin, who spent his entire life in his hometown Voronezh.

Life

Ivan Nikitin was born the son of a businessman. His childhood and youth were carefree. His father, Sawwa Yevtichievich, was an important citizen of the city as a candle maker and shopkeeper. But he played a fatal role in the life of his son. He was a despotic, restless person. After attending a denominational school, Ivan Nikitin entered a seminary. During this time he dealt with the work of Pushkin and Koltsov . He didn't finish the seminar, his mother died, his father gave himself up to alcohol, whereupon his father's business went bankrupt. A difficult period in life began for Nikitin, he worked in an inn and in a shop. In 1853 Nikitin's first poems were published. They aroused lively interest from readers and critics. In 1856 Nikitin's first collection of poems was published. Three years later he opened a bookstore. With the establishment of a library that was accessible to everyone, the poet wanted to offer the poorer sections of the population the opportunity to read and purchase literary works. In 1859 Nikitin's health deteriorated, but he still took an active part in the literary life of his hometown, opened Sunday schools, held matinees. After a severe cold in May 1861, he was unable to recover and died on October 16, 1861 in Voronezh.
