Ivan Mikhailovich Shagin

Ivan Shagin ( Russian Иван Михайлович Шагин ; * 1904 in the Yaroslavl Governorate , Russian Empire ; † 1982 ) was a Soviet photographer .

Shagin was born in 1904 as the son of an impoverished farmer in the Yaroslavl Governorate (now Ivanovo Oblast ). After a time as a sailor on the Volga and as a worker in Moscow , he became a press photographer . He published in Nascha-schisn (Our Life), Kooperatiwnaja Schisn, Komsomolskaya Pravda and at the Selchosiz publishing house. In 1950 he worked for the Igosiz publishing house, for Sovetsky Chudozhnik, Progress and the Novosti Agency . He photographed the Soviet Air Force and Navy for illustrated newspapers and the magazine USSR under construction .
