Iyeoka Okoawo
Iyeoka Ivie Okoawo (born April 28, 1975 in Boston , Massachusetts ) is a Nigerian-American poet, musician and TEDGlobal scholar. Her music contains soul, R&B, rock, hip hop and jazz elements.
Okoawo's parents come from the Nigerian state of Edo . She was born the third of four children. Before Okoawo started her music career, she worked as a pharmacist. She began her musical career as the front singer of the musician collective Iyeoka & The Rock by Funk Tribe .
