Izaro is an uninhabited island in the Atlantic near the towns of Bermeo and Mundaka . It is 675 meters long and up to 150 meters wide. It reaches a height of up to 45 meters. It is located in the Unesco Urdaibai Biosphere Reserve in front of the mouth of the Oka River in the Basque Country and is part of Spain .

The island contains some remains of a Franciscan monastery built in 1422 , looted by soldiers under the command of Sir Francis Drake in 1594 and abandoned and abandoned in 1719.
