İzmir Demirspor is a football club from the western Turkish province of Izmir .
history
Early years
The association was founded in 1955 in İzmir . When the Milli Lig (today's Süper Lig ) was founded in 1959 , the club played in the İzmir Mahalli Lig . At the end of the season you became champions, so you could take part in the promotion games in the first division. Here, however, you could not prevail against the strong competition and thus missed the promotion to the highest Turkish league. One season later (1960/61) they were again champions of the Izmir Mahilli Lig. In this season, too, the club did not manage to rise.
In the 1963/64 season you were allowed to participate in the newly founded Turkish second division . The so far first and last season in the second division ended İzmir Demirspor as bottom of the table and so again relegated to the İzmir Mahalli Lig. Since then, the new leap into the professional football leagues has not been successful.
Modern times
The club now plays in the seventh division, the İzmir 1. Amatoer Lig. In the 2015/16 season, İzmir Demirspor reached third place and thus just missed out on the play-offs for the İzmir Süper Amatoer Lig .
