Location of the hunter barracks in Lower Saxony

The Jägerkaserne is a barracks of the Bundeswehr in Bückeburg , Lower Saxony . It was built from 1867 and has been called "Jägerkaserne" since its inauguration. The barracks is located on Ulmenallee and is one of the oldest military barracks used by the Bundeswehr. A large part of the barracks is a listed building.

history

Construction of the barracks began in 1867. After its completion in 1871 it was the quarters of the Westphalian Jäger Battalion No. 7 ("Bückeburger Jäger"). At the time of the Reichswehr , the headquarters of the 3rd Battalion and the 11th and 12th companies of the 18th Infantry Regiment , which had adopted the tradition of the hunter, were housed there. From 1935 until the start of the war, the III. Battalion of the 58th Infantry Regiment stationed, which also carried on the tradition and the name "Bückeburger Jäger".

In 2010 it was announced that the barracks would be closed in the long term. The parts of the Army Aviation Weapons School stationed in the Jägerkaserne are to be relocated to the Immelmann barracks in Celle. As part of the Bundeswehr's stationing concept for 2011, the year 2025 was specified as the expected time of closure. In August 2019, however, the Federal Ministry of Defense announced that the property would not be given up as part of the "trend reversal for personnel and material".

In 2012, the Army Aviation School hit the headlines when a female soldier claimed she was attacked, raped and then locked in a locker on the barracks grounds. Information from the circle of investigators and investigations by the military police suggested that the incidents and evidence described were faked. In August 2013, the public prosecutor closed the investigation due to a lack of suspicion.
