Jägerkaserne (Constance)
The Jägerkaserne was a barracks in Konstanz , Baden-Württemberg . It was built from 1914 to 1917 and was located on Steinstrasse, in the Petershausen-West district .
history
The barracks were built for infantry troops of the German Empire after the state of war was declared in 1914. The rectangularly grouped neo-baroque barracks consisted of two crew buildings, a farm building, a chamber building, a parade hall, a stable, a staff house, a family house and a civil servants' house.
After Constance was taken almost without a fight by the 5th French Armored Division of the 1st French Army on April 26, 1945 , French armed forces moved into the barracks. After the withdrawal of the French armed forces in 1978, the barracks went into private ownership and the city of Konstanz created a development plan for residential development with student apartments and a day-care center . The day care center was a new building on the former parade ground in the middle of the complex. The parade hall and the chamber building were rededicated into a sports hall and a youth center.
