Jérémie Dufour (born November 2, 1975 in Roanne ) is a former French racing driver .

Career

Formula racing

After starting out in karting , Dufour's monoposto career began in 1992 in the French Formula 3 championship with a second place in the B class. In the following years he drove in addition to the French also in the British championship . In 1995 he started for the Ligier Junior Team and finished the season behind Oliver Gavin , Ralph Firman , Hélio Castroneves and Warren Hughes in fifth place overall.

At the beginning of the 2000s, Dufour switched to Japanese motorsport . Both formula and GT racing were very popular in Japan and attracted European drivers. The races had enormous spectator interest and large starting fields. For many pilots who could n't find a suitable racing cockpit in Europe , these events were a lucrative alternative. Dufour drove his last Formula 3 season in the 2001 Japanese championship , which he finished in third behind Benoît Tréluyer and Paolo Montin .

GT racing

From 2001 until the end of the 2007 season, Jérémie Dufour competed in the Japanese GT Championship . His single most important success was the victory in the 1000 km race at Suzuka in 2006 , together with Benoit Treluyer and Kazuki Hoshino in the Nissan Fairlady Z . The best place in the championship was second place in 2004.
