Jónína Leósdóttir (born May 16, 1954 in Reykjavík ) is an Icelandic author .

Life

Jónína Leósdóttir studied English and Literature at the University of Iceland , where she obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree . She then studied at the University of Essex in the UK . Between 1985 and 2005 she worked as a journalist and editor. She wrote biographies, plays and television plays, novels, children's books and short stories, as well as translating works from English into Icelandic. In 2008 she took part in the festival for solo pieces Act Alone in Ísafjörður .

In 2002, Jónína Leósdóttir entered into a registered partnership with the politician Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir . The two married in 2010 after same-sex marriage was introduced in Iceland . Jónína has a son from his first marriage to Jón Ormur Halldórsson .

Awards and nominations

In 2008 Jónina won the Jón-úr-Vör-Poetry Prize. Her radio play Hér er kominn maður (2006) (German: Here is a man came) received a 2006 nomination for the Icelandic Radio and Radio Prize Edda .
