Józef Majchrzak

Józef Majchrzak (born January 14, 1923 in Siutkówek , Lublin Voivodeship ) is a former politician in the People's Republic of Poland who, among other things, worked from 1967 to First Secretary of the Polish United Workers' Party PZPR ( Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza ) in the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship, or from 1975 formed the new Bydgoszcz Voivodeship .

Majchrzak, who was a carpenter by profession, joined the Polish Workers' Party PPR ( Polska Partia Robotnicza ) after the end of the Second World War . After the founding of the Polish United Workers' Party PZPR ( Polska Zjednoczona Partia Robotnicza ) in December 1948, he became a member and completed his studies at the Central Party School (Centralna Szkoła Partyjna) . On December 22, 1956 he became secretary for organization of the PZPR Committee of the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship and a candidate of the PZPR Central Committee at the IVth Party Congress (June 15-20, 1964). In addition, he was elected a member of the Sejm in the election of May 30, 1965 and was a member of parliament until July 30, 1981.

On January 3, 1967, Majchrzak also became First Secretary of the PZPR Committee in the Bydgoszcz Voivodeship and the new Bydgoszcz Voivodeship formed from it in 1975 and held the post until October 16, 1980. At the Fifth Party Congress (November 11-16, 1968 ) was also elected as a member of the Central Committee of the PZPR, which he also belonged to until 1980.

Majchrzak was honored several times for his services in the People's Republic of Poland and received, among other things, the medal for the 10th anniversary of the People's Republic of Poland (Medal 10-lecia Polski Ludowej) , the Order Sztandaru Pracy, Second Class and later First Class as well as the Officer's Cross of the Order Polonia Restituta (Order Odrodzenia Polski) .
