József Galamb

József Galamb (* 1881 in Mako , Hungary , † 1955 in Detroit ) was the inventor of the Model T Ford .

Life

József Galamb was a mechanical engineer and graduated from the Budapest University of Technology . As an employee of the Ford car factory, he designed the famous Model T (also called Tin Lizzy ), invented the gearbox freewheel and the electric ignition . He also developed the technology for the assembly line production of cars. A gigantic plant emerged from the small Ford car factory. Ford built 15.5 million “T-models” in 19 years. József Galamb also designed the elegant " Model A ". He was also the designer of the " Fordson tractor " that he designed during the First World War . The British government ordered 7,000 copies of this tractor . This tractor was very popular with farmers, it was lighter than all other tractors and it was much easier to operate. In 1925, over 50 percent of tractors manufactured in the United States were Ford.
