Jörg Emmerich (born March 9, 1974 in Halle (Saale) ) is a former German football player .

Career

Emmerich began his football career at Halleschen FC and later played at SV Merseburg 99 . In 1996 he moved to the major league for VfL Halle 96 . With Halle 96, Emmerich won the Saxony-Anhalt Cup in 1997 and 1999 . In 1999, in addition to winning the cup with the club, he was promoted to the Regionalliga Nordost . By reducing the regional league from four to two seasons, a 14th place at the end of the 1999/2000 season was not enough to keep the class here.

After relegation, Emmerich decided to move to FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt , for which he played 48 times in two Regionalliga seasons (South) and scored one goal. In both years he won the Thuringia Cup with Erfurt , but was never able to convince there. In 2002 he moved to FC Erzgebirge Aue in the Regionalliga Nord free of charge .

There Emmerich, who had always played in the attacking midfield, was converted into a defensive player by coach Gerd Schädlich and immediately became a top performer in his new position. In the following promotion season 2002/03 Emmerich was one of the most constant players in the Auer squad with 32 games. After the promotion to the second division, Emmerich was able to confirm his leadership role in the team and became captain of the Erzgebirge. After his contract in Aue he moved to Chemnitzer FC for the 2008/09 season , where he ended his career in 2011.

Emmerich was the sports director at Chemnitzer FC until February 2014.
