to teach

The focus of his work lies in the following areas: history of economics and liberalism , monetary theory and the relationship between economics and religion .

In his work, The Logic of Currency Competition , published in 1996, he sets up a currency theory that considers competition between state and non-state money producers to be non-existent and thus opposes Friedrich Hayek in particular .

In The Ethics of Money Production he explores the question of how overemission of money, which he describes as inflation in the sense of his doctoral supervisor Hans Hermann Lechner , affects society, and comes to the conclusion that this effect is undesirable from a Christian perspective . He therefore speaks out against a state currency monopoly, which he believes will inevitably lead to inflation, and advocates free banking . Hülsmann assumes that without government broke the law would be no fractional reserve method.

In his work he continues to deal with the counterfactual analysis of the economy.

He publishes numerous articles in the Journal of Libertarian Studies and in the Quarterly Journal of Austrian Economics .
