Jörg Stohler (born August 27, 1949 in Pratteln ) is a former Swiss football player . He played over 300 league matches, four times Swiss champion , was three times Swiss Cupfinalist (one winner 1975) and once each Ligacupsieger and Alpencupsieger . He played ten times for the national team .

Club career

Stohler began his football career with the juniors of FC Pratteln. In 1970 he moved to FC Basel . On July 30, 1974 he scored the goal for the interim 1-0 in the Alpine Cup final against BSC Young Boys , which Basel lost 1-2 in the end. On June 11, 1983, he played his 300th championship game for Basel in the Wankdorf Stadium in Bern.

In the 1988/89 season Stohler moved to FC Münchenstein in the 3rd division as a player-coach. At the end of the season, the team rose to the 2nd division .

During his time at FC Basel, Stohler also played ten times for the Swiss national team.

Private life

Stohler was trained as a construction fitter, was a chemical worker and has been taking early retirement since 2005. He is married and has two grown children.
